Onyx is created as stalactites and stalagmites by water dripping into limestone caverns. Onyx has to be put in a location where it won’t be subjected to harsh wear because it is a very soft and somewhat fragile stone. The translucent nature of this exquisite stone makes for spectacular, dramatic effects when backlit.
